Town and Country Garden Club was formed in 1964 “to encourage interest in, and to promote the beautification and enhancement of our environment, promote the betterment of our community and make this commitment by way of membership participation through education, through projects and through financial support.” Over this past half century, our members strive to develop, support, expand and fund a wide variety of programs in a successful pursuit of this goal. Our first fundraiser was in 1970 with a Christmas greenery sale. From that income of $630, we set off on our long lasting objective to keep Durham Beautiful.
Since those early beginnings we have graduated to a full scale annual auction that has raised in past years up to $42,000. This is the, Awesome Auction that occurs in November each year.
With a full complement of fifty plus very active members, T&CGC is able to support a variety of community-wide programs including beautification projects, scholarships, garden therapy and education.

- The Hub Farm of Durham Public Schools - Hub Farm is a 30-acre farm, woodland, and aquatic habitat where Durham county students (thousands last year), teachers, as well as the community, grow, harvest, cook and eat healthful food while engaging in hands-on learning about agriculture, food systems, and natural science.
